[Event Report] A Day at the Tokyo Flea Market – Spring 2025

[Event Report] A Day at the Tokyo Flea Market – Spring 2025

On Friday, May 16th, I visited the Tokyo Flea Market, held at Showa Kinen Park in Tachikawa, Tokyo.
It was a bit humid and warm—just enough to break a light sweat while walking around.

The Tokyo Flea Market is a vibrant event where a wide variety of vendors gather, offering antique goods, vintage books, Scandinavian collectibles, handmade crafts, and more. The atmosphere was lively as always, and I had a great time strolling through the aisles, hunting for hidden treasures.

What really caught my eye were the beautifully aged vintage tools and furnishings. The worn textures, the rustic metal, the patina on the wood—all full of character and charm. I found myself lost in the stories these items seemed to tell.

One booth I was happy to see was Sakurai Kokeshi from Naruko, showcasing and selling their charming kokeshi dolls. I also spotted a few vintage kokeshi dolls among the antique booths, which was a nice surprise for collectors like me.

After a bit of walking, I took a break and headed over to the food area. This time, I enjoyed some delicious boiled dumplings (sui-gyoza) and a refreshing beer. The dumplings had a perfectly chewy skin and were filled with juicy, flavorful meat—an excellent match with the cold beer. Eating outdoors made it feel like a little luxury.

Throughout the venue, street performers added to the festive vibe, and live acoustic music filled the air, blending naturally with the relaxing ambiance of the park. Between the shopping, the food, and the entertainment, it truly was an event that delighted all the senses.

It was a refreshing escape from everyday life, and I left feeling creatively inspired. I’m already looking forward to the next one!
